Survey Series 011-020

018-001 Female - Born 1953, diagnosed Relapsing/Remitting MS in 1997 at age 44.

Treatment - Started Avonex and intravavenous steroids and pills in 1997 with exellent results. Some side effects. Replaced fillings without results. Tried acupuncture, food supplements with only fair result. Tried the low fat diet but weight loss was too hard on my body. I do yoga and gym exercise daily. I am happy with myself, but will continue searching to find a way to control the MS. I was paralyzed from the waist down in 1997, I now walk with symptoms. I have had 3 attacks since 1997.

019-005 Female - Born 1965, diagnosed Relapsing/Remitting MS in 1996 at age 31.

Treatment - BetaSeron and steroids as necessary with good result. Had my fillings replaced without any result. Using the low fat diet some good result even though I only have fair diet control. My weight is normal and I exercise in a gym every other day. At this point I have given up on all the supplements. BetaSeron and a low fat vegetarian diet seem the best to me.

019-007 Male - Born 1963 Africa immigrated to Europe after puberty, then Canada. Diagnosed just as MS in 1997 at age 34.

Treatment - steriod injections 3 days, pills for 11 days. Fair result. Started Low fat, dairy free diet 3 months after diagnosis. Seem to be having good results. I feel the diet is worthwhile, I have good diet control & normal weight. I do feel stress is involved with MS. I never exercise.

019-008 Male - Born 1933 Central Europe immigrated to Canada long after puberty. Diagnosed chronic/progressive in 1996 at age 63.

Treatment - short-term acupuncture, 4 treatments, good result - removed fillings from teeth, excellent results - Diet low fat, vegetarian & dairy free. Excellent diet control, normal weight. Feel there is definite connection between MS and stress. Now I sail, ski, hike, work out in gym and do water exercises. I feel confident. I feel I have reversed the MS and am getting better not worse, I'm 95% back to normal.
